April 28, 2025
April 28th is the 118th day of the year. There are 247 days remaining until the end of the year.
It’s Election Day in Canada.
Canadians will head to the polls to elect an MP and ultimately a Prime Minister.
Polling stations will be open from 9:30-9:30 today. Results will start to stream in at that point.
For more information on voting in the Federal Election, or where to vote, go to Elections.ca.
The Chatham-Kent Film Group will screen Anora at Chatham Galaxy Cinemas.
Film begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door.
Tim Hortons Smile Cookies return today!
For patrons purchasing the chocolate chunk cookies topped with pink and blue icing smiles in Blenheim, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Thamesville, proceeds will support the VON’s Ontario Student Nutrition Program. The program provides funding and support to 42 schools in Chatham Kent.
In Chatham, Wallaceburg and Dresden, proceeds from the Smile Cookie sales will support the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.
Each cookie will cost $2. The 2024 campaign saw $18.8 million raised for different charities and community groups across the country.
The campaign runs from April 28 to May 4.
The St. Marys Lincolns jumped out to a lead and took a win at Memorial Arena last night, winning 6-2 over the Chatham Maroons. The win forces a seventh and deciding game Tuesday in St. Marys.
Game time in St. Marys is 7:30 p.m. The winner will face the Eastern Conference champion St. Catharines Falcons in the Sutherland Cup final.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 was announced last night on American Idol. There are 13 inductees.
In the Performers category we have: Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.
Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be inducted in the Musical Influence category.
Despite winning the fan vote last week, with 330,000 votes, Phish did not get named to the Hall. This is just the second time that the winner of the fan vote didn’t make it in. Previously, it was the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. But they finally got in last year.
The 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction will be held November 8th, 2025 in Los Angeles. Like last year, Disney+ will livestream the entire ceremony.
