Today is a Household Hazardous Waste Day.

Hosted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill.

The drop off is at Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The next household hazardous waste days this year:

  • Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here.


The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame is hosting its third annual Drive, Chip and Putt Skills Challenge at Maple City Country Club June 21st.

The free event is open to boys and girls between the ages and 7 and 13, and no experience is required. All golfers get a t-shirt and lunch, and will be entered for a chance to win a lesson with John Dengel, former head golf pro at Maple City.

Sly Stone, the revolutionary musician and showman whose band transformed popular music in the 1960’s and ’70s has died. He was 82.

Sly and the Family Stone were known for their hits Everyday People, Stand! and Family Affair. It was the first major group to include Black and white men and women, and well embodied a time when anything seemed possible


Environment Canada calling for sun and cloud today with a slight chance of a midday shower. High of 23C.

Tomorrow the temp jumps up to 29C before dipping for the Father’s Day weekend.

On Friday, the expected high is just 21C, which would make it colder than the Arctic Circle. Places like Inuvik, Northwest Territories and Old Crow, Yukon, both located north of the Arctic Circle boundary are calling for highs of 22C.
