March 31st is the 90th day of the year. There are 275 days remaining until the end of the year


A heads up for dog owners in CK- today is the deadline to get your 2026 municipal dog tag if you want to avoid a $10 late fee.

Every dog owner in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is required to purchase a dog licence tag for their dog(s) each year.

Dog licence tags can be purchased at any Municipal Office, by mail or over the phone.

Tags may also be purchased at Pet and Wildlife Rescue in Chatham. More information on how to purchase tags can be found here.


The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

Chatham-Kent and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill will once again hold Household Hazardous Waste Days this year.

The first drop off will be a week from today at Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Residents can dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here.

The scheduled hazardous waste days for 2026:

  • Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

Beginning today you’ll pay more to get a passport in Cananda.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is increasing passport fees due to rising costs and inflation.

For adults in Canada, a five-year passport goes from $120 to $122.50 cents and a ten-year jumps to $163.50. Kids’ passports are also going up slightly — now $58.50.

And if you need your passport in a hurry, brace yourself — urgent pickup is climbing to $125.75, and weekend service is now over $380.


Some of the top women arm wrestlers from Canada and the U.S. are coming to Ridgetown for a one-day showdown.

The Queen of the Table all-women’s arm wrestling tournament takes place Saturday, April 11, at Yeck’s Station 11.

There will be two 12-woman round-robin classes in right-hand competition, followed by an afternoon double-elimination tournament featuring both right- and left-hand matches. Competitors will battle across multiple weight classes for cash prizes and custom trophies. The tournament has been designated as a qualifier for the 2027 Arnold Classic, an international strength sports event held annually in March in Columbus, Ohio.The tournament is free to enter or watch, and attendees are encouraged to bring donations for local food and women’s charities.
